Hi Friend,
There are many ways to fundraise for a cause close to your heart – but have you ever considered fundraising online?
Two chapters of Friends of MSF did, and for the first time, they turned to streaming to make an impact. Here are the inspiring stories of how they rallied their communities to support people in crisis and made a real impact.
Meet the inspiring student groups who went live to support medical humanitarian action
The Friends of MSF chapter at the University of Ottawa set up a livestream on Twitch, allowing donors to challenge the chapter president to a game of chess. Over the course of the three-hour stream, the team was able to raise over $1,300 to support emergency medical care.

“I really admire MSF’s mission and want to contribute positively to the organization and our university community” - Svitlana Demchenko, President of the Friends of MSF chapter at the University of Ottawa.

Another Friends of MSF chapter at McGill University hosted their first online fundraiser in partnership with the McGill E-Sports Association. During the event, the E-Sports team streamed themselves playing Rocket League, League of Legends and Valorant and invited viewers to donate to MSF. The team successfully engaged their community online and raised $160 to support medical humanitarian action.

Are you ready to make your idea a reality??
If you’re inspired by the Friends of MSF’s livestreams or have an idea for a fundraiser of your own, it’s easier than you think to get started. So don’t wait! By hosting an event of your own, you can help us provide healthcare to people in emergency situations, no matter who or where they are.
Thank you for your support. Together, we can bring much needed relief to the people who need it most.
With gratitude
